Farmingdale United Methodist Church
OPEN HEARTS, OPEN MINDS, OPEN DOORS
Pastor
Rev. Dr. Claire Hojung Wu
Pastor Claire Wu was born in Seoul, South-Korea and immigrated to the United State of America ) when she was 25 years old. Claire earned her MDIV (Master of Divinity) and DMin (Doctor of Ministry) at Drew University. Her call to the ordained ministry came while she was helping to plant small group ministries. She devoted herself to the service of the Lord Jesus Christ and was involved with spiritual disciplines, discipleship, evangelism, small group fellowship and church planting ministries in the church. God provided her with the special gift of building and designing websites and she has been assisting churches to be more relevant to today's culture utilizing IT skills. She also served as a Chaplain resident at North Shore University Hospital, providing pastoral care to people who are in distress and in need of a compassionate touch. She also loves to experience the “Aha” moments when she witnesses others encountering God’s transforming grace through worship, study, service, sacrament, fellowship and relationships. Through ministry, she hopes to invite others to continually reorient their lives to be a part of the transformation God is doing in this world.
Pastor Claire is married to Philip, and they have two children, Bryan and Kristy.
Claire lives with the assurance of Romans 8:25-39, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?... Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Director of Music
David Majoros
David Majoros grew up in a musical family just south of Pittsburgh where hymn-singing and choral music played a major part in his spiritual and musical life. His earliest memories are of standing on a chair and singing duets with his Dad at church. Dave says, “I live to sing and talk about Jesus Christ and to bring more and more music via The Chancel Choir, The Bell Choir and Congregational Singing to Farmingdale UMC!”
He completed his Master’s degree in Vocal Performance and Literature at West Virginia University and subsequently went on to earn his doctorate in Vocal Performance at the University of Arizona. David has performed major baritone operatic roles with opera companies across the country, and has toured the nation with his self-produced, self-directed Musical/Dramatic Portrait of the great American composer, Charles Ives. In addition to his role as Director of Music for the Farmingdale United Methodist Church, he teaches piano and voice.
